Chris Willcock's search for an Assistant Manager at Winsford United has come to fruition, with the appointment of former Warrington Town boss Ian Street.

Several people had put themselves forward for the position but Ian was the first one to tick all the boxes.

Chris says "I am absolutely delighted Ian has responded to our approach as he has all the qualifications I am looking for, a former player and manager who is invaluable to what we want to achieve. His contacts within non-league football in the North-West means he will be able to attract quality players as the season progresses.

"I am looking forward to working alongside Ian and his enthusiasm and love of the game will have a positive effect on everyone at the club. He will be assisting with training and coaching and that will be to the benefit of all the players.

Ian's first job was to welcome central defender Shaun Came to the club for the new season. Work commitments limited Shaun's appearances last season but now he is fully committed to his home town club.

Ian says "Shaun his just the sort of player I am looking forward to working with, his ability has never been in doubt but since his days as a member of the youth team at Manchester United and his league appearances at the centre of the Macclesfield Town defence his football career has drifted a bit, mainly due to work demands. He is just 27 years old and there is no reason why he cannot become the player he promised to be"

Shaun says "I was approached by several clubs throughout the summer but when Chris was appointed manager there was only one club I wanted to play for. I am already feeling the benefit of his fitness regime and when I was told that Ian had been appointed assistant that was the cherry on the cake. I believe the Winsford are putting together a team that will be able to launch a serious challenge in the season to come.

Another player from last season to sign is Steve McNichol.  Just 18 years old, Steve was on the bench for most of last season but he is a youngster who shows great promise, and everyone is looking forward to seeing his development throughout the coming season.
